Well, well, well… look who finally sat down to write! Yep, it’s me. And y’all, it has been a minute. Like… three months kind of minute. I’m not even gonna lie, I’m a little nervous writing again because so much has happened since the last Sassy Story.

But I’m back, and baby… I got some tea.

From Graduation to the Classroom

The last time I really updated y’all, I had graduated on May 23rd with my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I was proud of myself, and of course I thought the next step was going to be social work.

Well… that did not happen.

I tried to find a job in social work, but the doors just were not opening. Then somehow, I found substitute teaching.

Now let me tell y’all something: I was SCARED.

My first assignment was kindergarten, and I prayed the whole week leading up to that day. I kept thinking, “Can I really do this?” But once I walked into that classroom, something changed. I was happy. I was excited. I felt good being there.

And now here I am, three weeks into substitute teaching, making my own substitute teacher badge at home shout-out to Amazon and doing my thing, okay!

Like… I am really doing this.

For a while, I felt alone and misunderstood, so enjoying where I am now feels amazing.

Baby, Every Day Is Something Different

Kindergarten was sweet.

My second assignment? Whew.

I was in CK, basically pre-kindergarten, and I had a four-year-old little boy who was NOT feeling me telling him to sit down. He had a whole fit and started throwing toys in my face.

Yes, y’all.

TOYS. IN. MY. FACE.

For a second, I was thinking, “Lord, am I even gonna make it through today?”

But I did what I was supposed to do. I called the office, explained what happened, and somebody came down to help.

That was my introduction to realizing substitute teaching is never going to be boring.

One day, a little girl went into the bathroom, took her shirt off, and said it was itching her. I’m not saying that to be mean toward that baby at all. It honestly made me wonder if something about her clothes was bothering her or if something else was going on.

Every day is different. Some days are funny. Some are stressful. Some make you say, “What in the world is going on?” But somehow, I still enjoy going back.

We’re Both Stepping Into Something New

Another big update: my husband got approved to work in the school system too!

Y’all, we were worried about that background check. He really thought his past might hold him back, so seeing him get approved was a BIG deal for us.

God is good.

I’m working in Van Dyke, and he got approved in Center Line. We may be at different schools, but we’re both stepping into school work at the same time, and I’m excited to see what this season looks like for us.

A New House, A New Plan, A New Chapter

And here comes another big update…

WE’RE MOVING!

Finally!

We’re moving into something more affordable so we can save money and prepare for the bigger move we want to make out of state one day.

The plan is to stay in the new house for maybe a year or two, save as much as we can our big goal is $50,000 and build extra income through side hustles or summer jobs.

I really feel like if we stay focused, we can do this.

And one of the biggest things for me personally is preparing to get off Section 8 after being on it for around 16 to 18 years.

That is HUGE for me.

I’m proud of myself. I’m patting myself on the back because this is something I have been waiting for. It feels like I’m entering a chapter where I can finally say, “Okay, we can hold this down.”

Will everything be perfect? Absolutely not.

But we’ll deal with whatever comes.

Keep God in the Center

If there is one thing I want somebody to take from this update, it’s this: keep going.

No matter what you’re going through, stay motivated. If you’re having a bad day, encourage yourself. If you have somebody who can encourage you, let them.

But don’t stop.

You have to keep pushing. You have to keep moving. Sometimes, it really does start with you.

For me, God has been in the center of all of it and I mean all of it. Even during the moments when my faith felt low, He was still there.

And just like that, we’ve reached the end of another Sassy Story. I don’t have everything figured out. I’m still learning, still growing, and still trying to build the life I know I’m capable of having.

But this chapter feels different.

I’m working. My husband is stepping into something new. We’re planning our next move. We’re setting goals. And for the first time in a while, I can really say I’m excited to see what happens next.

Until next time, keep growing, keep believing, and keep going. And don’t worry—life always gives me something else to talk about.

See y’all in the next Sassy Story!
